American Staffordshire Terrier

Female, Spayed, Beautiful coppery tan with a livered nose, yellow amber eyes and a big white loving smile.

This dog has had a hard start in life; as a little puppy around 6 weeks she was abandoned at a local vet’s office with a bad case of parvo and almost died. She was rescued and taken home by a vet teck. who nursed her back to good health. The dog was given the name Hooka and after she was healthy put in to our rescue to help her get a home. Hooka was happily placed in a home with an elderly man in an elderly community. She was happy and loved being around so many people that loved to pet her when she was out for walks. Unfortunately the older gentlemen fell ill and had to return Hooka to us due to his inability to take care of her any more.

So Hooka come back to us and once again we went to work to find her a home. The second time we found her what we thought was a good home, it was a family with kids and elderly family members with plenty of love for Hooka so we thought. Close to a year later after we had lost contact with the family and their phone number was shut down. We found out from the land owner, that the family was buying their home from, that they had up and moved and a banded their home and to our heart dismay Hooka. The land owners had taken Hooka to their home till they could find us out of the goodness of their hearts. We went and got Hooka and took her to the Vet and have gotten her all taken care of, in treating her horrid case of fleas and worms. She is on a diet now also; she was only getting people for and was around twice the weight she should be, easy. She is doing well and is ready to find a true forever home.

Hooka is one of the best dogs to come throw our rescue!! She would be a good Therapy Dog!! She loves people and would love to spend her whole day with people being pated loving them and giving all she has, to them. She is at her best around kids and the elderly. She is well trained! House broke, Crate trained and has had obedience, is good on and off leash!
