There are two types of pet insurance. One type covers just about everything and has high deductibles. The other type is very selective in coverage (never covers any genetic problems) has lower deductibles. Unless your dog has a very expensive illness that the insurance covers, very unlikely, you will always pay more in premiums than you will receive in claims. They are in business to make money not lose it. A better alternative is to open a saving account and deposit to that to pay future medical bills.
