Great product, super easy to install, best value,
I purchased 2 of these for my Bernese Mt. Dog. One for an interior door from the house to garage, and one for the fire door from the garage to the back yard. These are really, really easy to install and only took about 20 mins each which was 95% for cutting the holes. What I love about this product is they are very, very forgiving on the cuts. I used a jig saw for the wood door, but a reciprocating saw for the exterior fire door because it was metal. Boy, I really overshot some of the cuts and the lines were completely jagged and off. But, the trim on these doors are so large that they covered up any issues with my poor cutting skills and they look fantastic in the both doors.
The items are very sturdy and the magnets actually work on the flaps. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for the best value of a door and plan to install themselves. Don’t spend $300 on other expensive doors. These are perfect.

|Steer Clear of this Dog Door,
I ordered an XXL IDEAL dog door from Amazon. The first time my dog went through the flap, the bottom magnetic strip bent and the flap would no longer close properly, which meant every flying / crawling insect in my backyard now had easy access to my sunroom.
I used the website to process a return and just received a confirming email that some portion of the original purchase price was being refunded. I understand not refunding the cost of shipping, but I don’t know what the additional Partial Refund Deduction: ($14.91) was for? Because the item wasn’t new and in an unopened box? I wouldn’t have returned it if it worked and the only way to know that it worked (or didn’t, in this case) was to open the box and install it.
This new IDEAL dog door was bought to purchase a previously installed IDEAL dog door that I had had for 12 years. Unfortunately, I found it next to impossible to find the proper fitting replacement flaps for the model I purchased 12 years ago, so I decided to buy a whole brand new door to replace the existing one I had had for 12 years.
As the seller, I trusted Amazon to sell me a reliable, useable, durable product and instead I bought and received a cheap piece of plastic crap that broke the first time I used it. Not only am I out the money I spent on the door, minus shipping and minus the Partial Refund Deduction: ($14.91), I am also out the money I spent on a “Mr. Fix-It” to install the door for me. And then had to pay someone to remove the door I wanted to return, plus re-install a new door.
It is unfortunate that you chose not to issue me a full refund, minus the shipping, having sold me a defective and crappy product, you have also lost a very good, long term customer. I cannot afford to purchase items from Amazon without knowing that you fully, 100% stand behind the items you advertise and sell, and it’s obvious to me, based on the way you processed this refund that you don’t stand behind the items you sell. As a consuemr who votes with her cash, I will now take my cash and vote somewhere else.

|Works for me,
I have several of these doors and they work great. I have had one for 6 years on my screened deck for the dogs; an Anatolian Shep. and a Lab. I live on the water in FL and raise Pygmy goats. We sometimes have mosquito and knat problems so my barn and buck houses are screened and each has one of these doors. All my goats use them and the babies learn at about 10 days old. Frequently, two goats try to go through at the same time; these doors are very sturdy.
